Timothy T. Myers, a shareholder, has extensive trial and appellate experience in complex commercial litigations, including federal and state class actions and civil rights cases.
Mr. Myers has broad and extensive trial experience. Mr. Myers was trial counsel for the defense in a multi-million dollar high profile race discrimination case against the fourth largest county in the nation. The jury rendered a zero verdict for the defense. Recently, in a two week jury trial in Chester County, Mr. Myers won a $20 million dollar verdict for the owner of a golf and country club course resort company in a contract dispute against a national builder of residential communities. It was the largest commercial verdict in Chester County history, and the second largest in the County ever. Mr. Myers was trial counsel for a county that won a multi-million dollar settlement and then a jury verdict in federal court against a voting machine manufacturer and distributor. Mr. Myers won a $3 million wrongful death jury verdict. He has tried numerous civil trials for plaintiffs and defendants involving complex commercial disputes, contracts, constitutional claims, civil rights, discrimination, and real estate issues, mass torts and personal injuries. Mr. Myers‘ practice emphasizes matters in civil rights, employment, professional defense and municipal law. Mr. Myers is responsible for the defense and management of civil rights and municipal tort cases for public entities and officials throughout Pennsylvania, in a wide variety of civil rights and employment claims including zoning/land use, sexual harassment, discrimination, police misconduct, licensing, First Amendment, prison-based and work-place claims.
He has served as lead class counsel for plaintiffs and lead defense counsel in several class actions, including consumer class actions, mass tort cases and civil rights actions. Mr. Myers also successfully defended the Pennsylvania judicial system and the sheriff and the Prothonotary of Montgomery County in class actions brought under 42 U.S.C. §1983. He has also represented Pennsylvania judicial leaders in federal court litigation.
Mr. Myers is active in his community. For example, he co-chaired the committee that raised funds to purchase, donate and install a playground structure for a local township park. Mr. Myers was also chosen as the community representative to work with the manufacturer to conceptualize and design the playground system for the children in his community.
Mr. Myers graduated from Bowdoin College with honors in 1981, where he was a member of the Varsity Track Team and the Varsity Soccer Team. He graduated from Temple University School of Law in 1986, where he was a member of the Temple Law Review. A member of the American, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Montgomery Bar Associations, he is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania; the New Jersey Supreme Court; and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He has been selected as a Pennsylvania SuperLawyer every year since the program’s inception in 2004.
