William M. Kelleher, a shareholder in the firm, focuses his practice on commercial and corporate litigation, equity, white collar litigation, construction law, admiralty, trade secret law, and issues related to non-compete covenants and fiduciary duties.
A native of Delaware, Mr. Kelleher has argued and tried varied matters in the Delaware Court of Chancery, the U.S. District Court for Delaware, the Delaware Superior Court, the Delaware Court of Common Pleas, the Delaware J.P. Courts, the Delaware Family Court, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Delaware. He also has substantial appellate experience, including ten oral arguments at the Delaware Supreme Court.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kelleher served as a deputy attorney general for the Delaware Department of Justice. As a deputy attorney general, Mr. Kelleher primarily practiced appellate advocacy, arguing cases at the Delaware Supreme Court and briefing over sixty Delaware Supreme Court appeals. He also served as a trial prosecutor at the Delaware Department of Justice.
From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Kelleher was a judicial law clerk to Chancellor William B. Chandler, III and Vice Chancellor Myron T. Steele of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Prior to that clerkship and immediately after graduation from law school, Mr. Kelleher spent four years on active duty as a judge advocate in the United States Coast Guard. As a JAG, Mr. Kelleher served in the Office of Military Justice and the Office of Claims and Litigation. Mr. Kelleher is an active member of the Delaware State Bar Association and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He is the former Chair of the Delaware State Bar Association’s New Lawyers Section and a former Secretary of its Litigation Section.
Active in community affairs, Mr. Kelleher is a former director and officer of the Delaware Rugby Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed to foster the growth of rugby at the grade school and high school levels in Delaware. He played rugby for various teams inside and outside of the United States for twenty years, including for the University of Delaware and at several Military All Stars Rugby Championships.
Mr. Kelleher is a graduate of the University of Delaware (B.A. 1991) and Widener University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1995) where he served on Law Review as an articles editor of The Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi.
Mr. Kelleher, his wife and two children live in Wilmington.
