Stuart S. Smith, a shareholder, practices commercial litigation and healthcare law, having served as trial counsel in commercial disputes, civil rights, legal malpractice, insurance coverage disputes, products liability and healthcare litigation in Pennsylvania's and New Jersey's Federal and State Courts. He has also participated in the representation of municipalities in civil rights and solicitorship matters. He has substantial experience in business and real estate law. Mr. Smith represents various businesses including dry cleaners, marketing agencies, residential construction companies, graphic arts and publishing companies, product manufacturers, franchisees and professional practices.
He is a member of the Bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, and the Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Smith also serves as an arbitrator in Delaware County and Montgomery County and has litigated complex matters before the American Arbitration Association, and numerous alternative dispute resolution forums.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Montgomery Bar Association, the Delaware County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association and the Delaware County Guy G. DeFuria American Inns of Court. He presently serves on the Professional Liability Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and has previously served as a Delegate on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Association to the American Bar Association's House of Delegates. He has served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Delaware County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division.
A native of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Mr. Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University, and graduated from the Widener University School of Law with a juris doctorate degree. A veteran of over thirty-eight marathons, Mr. Smith also dedicates his time to civic and community organizations in Delaware and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania.
