Shelley A. Kinsella, of counsel to the Firm in its Wilmington office, focuses her practice on bankruptcy and health care matters.

She has experience in complex Chapter 11 reorganization and liquidation cases, and practices in many aspects of bankruptcy, representing debtors, unsecured creditors’ committees, equity committees, trustees, and secured and unsecured creditors. Ms. Kinsella represents reorganized debtors, committees, and trusts in bankruptcy related litigation, including preference actions and fraudulent conveyance actions.

Ms. Kinsella has both prosecuted and defended hundreds of Chapter 5 actions. One of her specialties is prosecuting preference litigation. In her representation of various Chapter 7 Trustees, she has analyzed records involving several thousand potential avoidance actions, worked with financial advisors in the analysis of litigation issues, organized demand letters and coordinated attorneys and staff to bring to successful resolution preference litigation in cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. She has also managed the claims objection process and prosecuted hundreds of claims objections as a lawyer to various Chapter 7 Trustees.

Ms. Kinsella is admitted to the Delaware Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. Ms. Kinsella resides in Wilmington with her husband and two children. She is a volunteer for Alternative Court for Teens and ReadAloud Delaware. A former competitive gymnast, she also teaches gymnastics to children at the YMCA on the weekends and assists in teaching the autistic youth sports programs at the same YMCA. She actively provides pro bono services for the Office of the Child Advocate.

Ms. Kinsella earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Political Science with a minor in English from University of California, Irvine. She graduated from Loyola Law School - Los Angeles where she was a member of the Moot Court and was an ABA National Finalist. She was also a member of the Law Review where she was the Senior Articles Editor.
