Rafael X. Zahralddin will be a panelist on Friday December 10, 2010 addressing Litigation in Cross-Border Cases at the upcoming 22nd Annual ABI Winter Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Zahralddin will be speaking at panel sponsored jointly by the ABI International Committee and ABI Bankruptcy Litigation Committee on cross border litigation issues. Mr. Zahralddin will be focusing on the issues in cross border litigation concerning venue issues, sales of assets, involuntary bankruptcy, and on the use of comparative law by Judges and litigants. The panel will analyze Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code and the Canadian Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (commonly known as the CCAA). Mr. Zahralddin will be discussing the firm’s efforts in the Chapter 15 case of In re Grant Forest in which the firm represented the Canadian Monitor under the CCAA. Mr. Zahralddin will also be discussing the In re Hotel Equity Fund, LLC case, in which the firm represented the government of the sovereign nation of Nevis and the Four Seasons Resort Homeowner’s Association.
