Elliott Greenleaf Is Lead Counsel on Acquisition of Professional Baseball Club

Elliott Greenleaf shareholders, Thomas J. Elliott, Kevin S. Anderson and Eric P. Wilenzik recently represented a client in the multi-million dollar acquisition of the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx of the Southern League of Professional Baseball, the AA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Elliott Greenleaf’s transactional team assisted the client in the formation and structuring of a limited liability company for the acquisition, as well as required corporate due diligence, preparation and successful submission of the Application for Control Interest Transfer to the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues and the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, renegotiation of the stadium lease with the City of Jackson, Tennessee and structuring and closing the transaction. The deal marked the third time in the last two years that Elliott Greenleaf successfully handled a professional baseball franchise sale, having previously represented owners in the sale of teams in the AA Eastern League and AAA Pacific Coast League.
